Part of the belvedere at Wied Iż-Żurrieq has been closed off because the underlying rocks are in danger of collapsing.

The Infrastructure Ministry said the stone had deteriorated due to natural causes and the risk of collapse had been confirmed through an inspection using a drone together with land and sea inspections near the Blue Grotto.

Alternative access to the remaining part of the belvedere will be provided.
