Nearly €10,000 worth of domestic appliances and televisions - and the van they were being transported in - were stolen in a robbery yesterday morning.

The theft occurred at around 9.15 a.m. in Triq il-Maħżnier in Luqa when two deliverymen employed with ETV Limited were distributing ordered appliances to several clients around the island.

As they were carrying the second of five built-in appliances into a house in Luqa, someone started the Toyota van and made off with all the appliances on board.

Sources said that although the van was unattended, the key was not in the ignition and that the van was started without a key in what looks like a professional job.

The sources said the van was loaded with Baley and Beko washing machines, tumble dryers, fridges, fridge-freezers and built-in ovens as well as a number of LCD televisions, among other white goods.

The police are investigating.
