An armed man armed with a pistol entered a confectionery in Birkirkara this afternoon and demanded money, then abruptly left without taking anything.

The incident happened at about 5.30 p.m. in Valley Road, the police said.

The man was not hooded but wore dark sunglasses. The shop attendant, a 43-year-old woman, was not injured.
