The man who stole 20 euros from a lotto receiver in Qormi two days ago was this morning jailed for two years suspended for three.

Drug victim Steve Azzopardi, 29, of Qormi, painted a plastic gun black and covered his face in a pair of boxer shorts to commit the hold-up, in Victory Street.

The lotto receiver was the mother of Patrizio Parascandolo, who was last week hailed as a hero when he foiled a hold-up at his shop in Zebbug.

His actions led to the arrest of a man who was subsequently accused of a string of hold-ups.
