Over the next few nights, Transport Malta will be resurfacing parts of Triq l-Ewwel Titjira 1915, which forms part of the main road link towards Żurrieq, Mqabba, Safi, Kirkop and Qrendi.

During the first phase of works, contractors will be removing the existing road surface, between the roundabout next to the airport and the Kirkop tunnels, to replace it with new layers of asphalt. Works will commence Monday and will continue every night, between 8pm and 5am the following morning, until Thursday April 12.

Some lanes along this road will be closed to road users while the works are in progress, but the road will still remain accessible in both directions, at all times.

During the day, no works will be taking place and all lanes of this road will be available as usual.

Drivers and other road users travelling in this area are encouraged to following the temporary lane diversion signs and the instructions of the traffic management officials on site.

These resurfacing works are another phase in the ongoing project to improve the quality and safety of one of the main links between the central part of Malta, in Ħamrun and Qormi, towards the southern part of the island, which includes several localities as well as strategic sites such as the Malta International Airport.

At the moment, contractors are also rebuilding the roundabout next to the St Vincent de Paule Residence, before commencing the rebuilding of the road connected to it. This arterial Road, Triq Hal Luqa, will be redesigned to be widened with additional lanes.
