The Royal Navy frigate HMS Somerset will call at Grand Harbour between Sunday and Wednesday.

The Type 23 frigate is returning to the UK following a six month deployment east of Suez conducting maritime security operations – clamping down on piracy, smuggling, terrorism, people trafficking and the illegal arms trade.

HMS Somerset sailed from the UK on 17 August 2011 and is due to return to the UK at the end of February. During her deployment the ship visitedJordan, Oman, Seychelles and Tanzania.

HMS Somerset in 2007 underwent a multi-million pound refit and is one of the most modern and capable warships in the fleet.

The ship will bertat Pinto Wharf and will be open to the public between 9 a.m. and noon on Monday.
