Red Bull's new driver, Australian Daniel Ricciardo won the Canadian grand prix this evening with Nico Rosberg just managing to hang on to second after brake problems hit his Mercedes and that of team-mate Lewis Hamilton, who was forced to retire.

The win means Rosberg extends his championship lead to 140 over Hamilton's 118 points.

Champion Sebastian Vettel came in third in the second Red Bull.

A charging Felipe Massa crashed his Williams into the Force India of Sergio Perez as they closed on Vettel in the closing stages of the race.

The race ended behind the safety car.
