The Parliamentary Secretary responsible for the gaming sector plans to review the laws and regulations governing this sector to see how these could be improved in the face of challenges it was facing, he said this morning.

Speaking during a visit to the the Lotteries and Gaming Authority in Mrieħel, Edward Zammit Lewis said thesechallenges included the sustainability of casinos, which had to be “re-dimensioned”, through collaboration with the Tourism Ministry, the competition Malta was facing from abroad and striking a balance between the social and economic aspects of gaming parlours.

He said a fund to promote responsible gaming was already in place and the authority was conducting an information campaign on this.
