David Cameron was given hundreds of pounds’ worth of baby gifts after the birth of his fourth child in August, it was revealed.

The Prime Minister received presents from Marks & Spencer, babywear firm Huggababy and the Crown Prince of Dubai.

However, all were held by the government under ministerial rules, except part of the Crown Prince’s gift which Mr Cameron purchased in order to keep personally.

The Prime Minister’s wife, Samantha, gave birth to their second daughter – Florence Rose Endellion – on August 24.

The presents were disclosed under the latest publication of ministerial hospitality and gifts worth more than £140.

Other gifts Mr Cameron received in August and September included ties from Zilli Ties and a silver and glass ornament from Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, neither of which he kept.

The Prime Minister listed champagne, bought for him by Viscount Rothermere, chairman of Associated Newspapers whose publications include The Daily Mail, on “official entertainment”.

He also accepted free tickets by the London Palladium and actress Whoopi Goldberg, star of the theatre’s production of Sister Act.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg received only one present during the same two-month period – a briefcase from South African deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe, which he did not keep.
