A retired US Marine general is under investigation for allegedly leaking classified information.

Former Marine General James Cartwright, is in the spotlight for allegedly revealing information connected to the Stuxnet computer virus used against Iranian nuclear facilities in 2008.

The virus temporarily disabled 1,000 of Iran's centrifuges used to enrich uranium.

Cartwright was responsible for overseeing and running cyber operations between 2007 to 2011.

He also served as vice-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
