A court today ordered a father to pay his son €1,300 for a sink and flight tickets.

Retired goalkeeper Reggie Cini told Small Claims Tribunal chairman Vince Galea, that he had told his father Reginald that friends of his who owned Buba’s Snack Bar in Floriana wanted a commercial stainless steel sink installed. He told his father that he had one available and asked him to install it for them. The sink cost €300 and his father would charge extra for the work done.

On a separate occasion, he had also asked his father if he wanted to see his Australian daughter. He said he did and agreed to pay €1,000 of the flight expenses.

Mr Cini said his father never reimbursed him for the part he agreed to pay.

The father denied he had agreed to pay anything and said that when he installed the sink he requested €180 for his work because he understood the sink was given free of charge.

In considering the evidence, the chairman also took into consideration the behaviour of Reggie Cini while testifying. He said that on the basis of probability, the tribunal felt that he was more credible and ordered his father to pay him €1,300.
