Extensive restoration works on the statue of Christ the Redeemer at Senglea will be formally concluded with a ceremony on March 3.

The event starts at 5.30pm and will feature a presentation of the nine-month restoration process, the Curia said.

On March 9 at 6pm Archbishop Charles Scicluna will lead a pilgrimage with the statue and celebrate Mass at Senglea basilica.

The statue will be behind closed doors again in April for anoxia treatment.

A book on the restoration works, entitled: Ir‑Redentur: History, Art, and Cult of the Miraculous Effigy of Christ the Redeemer at Senglea will be published shortly.
