A Sliema restaurant employee pleaded guilty to stealing a €50 note from his employer’s cash register on the night between Tuesday and yesterday.

Bulgarian national Mihail Svetoslanov Donev, 26, was caught red-handed and refunded the money.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli sentenced him to a seven-month jail term suspended for 18 months. Police inspector Anthony Tabone prosecuted while lawyer Martin Fenech was legal aid.
