'This is my third contribution to the current campaign against unjust residents' parking schemes. In my first two, I wrote on behalf of my colleagues, but this time I write in my personal capacity.

'Quite a few letters have been published, all written by the common citizen, in favour and against the scheme. No authority seems to have an opinion on this matter. The aim of this letter is to invite a public figure to speak up.

'All of us know that in a court case against Pietà council, these schemes were declated to be discriminatory. This case has been appealed, yet we have not had the pleasure of reading the opinion of any lawyer or legal expert. Obviously, legal opinion costs money. Is there is a lawyer who can give us an opinion?

'All these schemes have been sanctioned by the ADT, as required by law, yet they have been declared illegal and the ADT keeps approving new schemes. Can we hear what the director of the ADT has to say about this? Can he enlighten us?

'This campaign is against these schemes, which have been introduced by various local councils; however, not one local council has made a contribution. Why this silence from councils? Could it be because they don't want to risk losing the income they are generating from these schemes?

'How about new Transport

Minister Austin Gatt, who also has local councils within his remit? He has been a great mover in the IT field and has achieved miracles in this sector. How about if he had to put IT aside for a few minutes and give us his opinion?

'The new MLP leader has said he wants to be inclusive and that his door is open to everyone. Well, we are knocking at your door Joseph Muscat, will you favour us with a contribution?

'Just before the election, Lawrence Gonzi said that his party would listen more and be more aware of our hurts. Here we are, complaining and hurting, so would you listen to us.' (John Cassar)
