Further to my concerns in relation to banks' unfair and excessive charges and tariffs - confirmed as such by no less than a UK High Court Judgment handed down in this respect - to which no response or acknowledgment has been forthcoming, hot on the heels of such profiteering perpetrated by Maltese registered banks comes the latest bombshell by Bank of Valletta(BOV).

For I have just been yet again plundered, sorry advised, by BOV that as from June 1 interest will no longer be applied to reserve cheque accounts with a fund attracting less than €50,000. Perhaps this unilateral and avaricious approach to appropriate and accountable customer service ethics and probity could be broached at the BOV's upcoming public seminar entitled Making The Most Of Your Money - which should have the prefix Banks!

As the representative of the regulatory body - the MFSA - who purportedly monitor and scruntinise banking institutions' activities and modus operandi and act as a shield for consumers, it is apparent that next to nothing is being done or achieved by this entity in affording adequate and effective protection to consumers with the banks seemingly immune to any control or restrictive measures being applied thereby enabling them to act with impunity.

I call upon the MFSA to display a more forthright and resolute agenda in challenging and confronting these unaccountable elites - aka banks - as currently it manifests itself as subservient and supine in the face of such aggressive and prejudiced terms and conditions inflicted upon consumers by these institutions without adequate, indeed any, justification or accountability for such.

Serve and protect please... and be seen to do so!
