Rescuers trying to recover an injured researcher from Germany's deepest cave say the man who has been trapped for eight days is stable.   Germany's deepest cave.

52-year-old Johann Westhauser suffered injuries to his head and chest after being hit by a falling rock three-quarters of a mile underground

The researcher was with two other men at the time of the accident. It took one of them 12 hours to climb out to seek help.
