The young striped dolphin found injured in Qawra yesterday died this afternoon.

The Malta Environment and Planning Authority said a necropsy carried out by the Veterinary Services indicated that the animal died as a consequence of respiratory problems due to fatigue.

Mepa said all efforts were made to save the dolphin. It thanked the team working on this stranding, including Nature Trust , the veterinary services, animal welfare, Armed Forces, the police, Bicref, the university and staff from the Mediterraneo Park, who worked together and provided all the necessary support throughout the process.
