A request for proposals for the management and operation of a temporary marina in Kalkara, to be located between Villa Bighi and Villa Portelli, has been issued by the Malta Maritime Authority.

Kalkara Creek was identified as one of the sites suitable for the development of a temporary marina following a consultation process in July.

The arrangement in Kalkara requires the utilisation of a pontoon infrastructure for the mooring of about 60 pleasure yachts/craft for eight years.

This request for proposals follows another last week by the Authority for the management and operation of organised mooring areas in Xemxija Bay and in Salina Bay.

The chosen operator at Kalkara will be requested to provide a range of services such as berthing assistance, provision of supplies and other related services. He will have to operate the facility for his risk and benefit. The MMA will regulate the activities.

A preview document can be downloaded from the authority’s website www.mma.gov.mt .

Proposals will be received up to January 22.
