The St Hubert Hunters' Association this morning referred to reports and letters in the media about shooting  being heard following the hunting season for Turtle Dove and Quail which ended on April 30.

"Whilst urging members of the public to lodge reports at their nearest police station or directly to the ALE, we expect the same strict surveillance from the law enforcement authorities as witnessed during our legal activities last spring hunting season," the association said.

"We reiterate our appeal for any illegal hunting activity to be treated severely since such acts jeopardize the credibility of all legal hunters"

The association also pointed out that the open season for shooting or “ferreting” wild rabbit commences on June 1 and that all clay pigeon ranges hold shoots regularly throughout the summer months.
