Renault have maintained silence as newspapers speculate on Fernando Alonso's future.
The Spaniard is expected to leave McLaren prematurely at the end of this season.
Germany's Bild newspaper has claimed he has signed a letter of intent to rejoin the French team in January for three years.
The Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat claimed Alonso will actually head for Ferrari, in 2009.
Toyota, meanwhile, is reportedly also seeking the champion's services, but while it has attractive financial clout, Alonso might prefer a winning car.
Renault in a brief statement said the team would not comment on the speculation that has appeared in the media and it would announce its line-up "when we are ready to do so."
