Remembrace Day was marked with the laying of poppy wreaths at the foot of the monument commemorating Gozitan victims who died by enemy action during World War II. Present for the ceremony were war veterans and members of the British Legion of Malta.

The Gozo platoon of the Armed Forces of Malta also took part in the ceremony.

As the Citadel clock struck 11 a.m. a minute's silence was held followed by the Last Post and the Reveille. A tornado from RAF Leuchars in the UK flew over Independence Square. Ghajnsielem also commemorated its war victims. Ghajnsielem mayor Francis Cauchi, representatives of various organisations and relative of the victims placed flowers at the war memorial in Chambray Street.
