Remembrance Day was held on Independence Square in Victoria last Sunday.

The programme started with a Guard of Honour by the AFM led by Major Claudio Terribile.

Charles Bezzina delivered a commemorative speech. Mention was made of some Gozitans who fell victim to enemy action during the Second World War.

Fr Ignatius Micallef MSSP read out an excerpt from the Holy Scripture followed by reflective thoughts and prayers. Last Post was sounded by members of the Police Corps.

Wreaths were laid at the foot of the monument of Christ The King by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono, local council mayors, the Police Corps, members of The Royal British Legion (Malta), the Gozo Court of Justice, the Gozo Public Libraries, private and public schools, the Gozo General Hospital, Friends of the Sick and Elderly, the Anglican Chaplaincy in Gozo, the Victoria Scout Group, government departments and parastatal companies.

The choir Fjur t'Assisi took part.
