Three Nigerians were yesterday remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to conspiring to import and trafficking in 900 grammes of cocaine.

Austine Uche, 20, Kofi Otule Friday, 32 and Tony Johnson, 27, were stopped on Wednesday by the police Drug Squad and are now pleading not guilty to conspiring to importing and trafficking in cocaine and resisting the police during their arrest.

Mr Uche and Mr Friday were allegedly found in St Paul's Bay carrying 59 capsules amounting to 590 grammes with the rest allegedly having been found on Mr Johnson.

Magistrate Edwina Grima remanded the men in custody after taking into consideration the seriousness of the crime.

Lawyer Mark Busuttil appeared for the men.
