Having kept a low profile since last year’s Rollercoaster single, Maltese rock band Relikc returns to the music scene with the release of its latest single, Take the Blame.

Moving on from the hard rock and progressive tilt of their earlier material, Relikc’s recent work flaunts funkier elements without abandoning the band’s love of contemporary alternative bands.

With bands like Tower of Power, Jamiroquai, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Franz Ferdinand popping up in the band’s list of influences, it’s not difficult to gauge what drives their blend of souped-up groovy rock.

The band, whose current formation includes Keith Zammit (vocals), Luke Grech (guitars), Ivan Giordano (bass), Joseph Axiak (keyboards), and Robert Spiteri (drums), will be releasing its new single with a live performance at Hacienda, Bay Street, on Thursday night, and there should also be a surprise or two in store on the night.
