I endorse Jacqueline Calleja's letter in The Times (Hospital Needs Religious Symbols, April 29) and like her I would ask the authorities to rectify this situation. The symbols are conspicuous by their absence.

Jesus Christ died for all mankind and the sooner the world of today recognises this, the sooner it would be a better world.

Let us not succumb, like Europe, to pressures of other religions who have no fear of imposing their creeds on all and sundry. Already I feel ashamed at how Europe treated the abortion issue, safeguarding human rights and yet failing to recognise the right to life of the vulnerable person in the womb.

May there be a symbol of the suffering Christ, the God-made-man, who suffered a terrible death to save all humanity from the wicked world. We acknowledge that He rose again and that is what should make us all, especially the sick person nearing his meeting with the Lord for all eternity, hopeful of loving help from the living Christ.

Jesus promised He will be with us till the end of time. Let us feel our need for His help at all times. May His Divine Mother feature too in that hospital named after Her. Malta is not ashamed it has this devotion to Jesus and His Divine Mother. She always comes to our aid.
