Two women this morning filed an application for a warrant of prohibitory injunction seeking to stop other relatives from opening and cleaning a grave at a Siggiewi cemetery.

Annabelle Borg and Carmen Borg-Schembri are seeking the warrant against Joseph and Emanuel Schembri.

They said there was a long-running family dispute. They had been notified by an SMS message from Joseph Schembri that the grave was to be cleaned this week and they would be informed about the costs. They said the remains were to be placed in a charnel house.

The applicants said they were shocked by the news, but the Schembris had not been contacted.

They insisted that they had no right to open the grave and dispose of the remains without their permission.
