New regulations regulating the agreement on home loans are to be issued by the Maltese Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority in the coming days.

Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said said this morning the aim was to give consumers the highest level of protection possible when it came to one of the most important decisions he would take in his life, that of borrowing money to buy a home.

Although the regulations were taking into consideration a directive proposed by the European Commission to protect loans taken for home buying, the regulations had to be implemented in Malta independently of the directive.
