Cospicua regatta club has taken delivery of a brand new regatta boat built in wood using traditional methods.

The tal-pass boat, which can take four or two oars, boat was built by one of Malta's few remaining boat builders, with the club having successfully sourced funds from the EU's Youth in Action programme for the project.

A spokesman for the club said the purpose of the club was two-fold, to pass on the boat building trade and to promote the regatta itself.

A number of youths were heavily involved in the project with a view to learning the trade.

The boat was inspected today by Justice Minister Chris Said. An open day will be held on August 26.
