An Eritrean man was yesterday remanded in custody after allegedly causing slight injuries to a policeman when he refused to get off a bus at the Marsa Park and Ride.

Kubrom Berhe Haile, 29, was charged with causing a police officer slight bodily harm, with reviling and threatening two police officers, with resisting arrest and with being intoxicated and incapable of looking after himself.

Prosecuting officer Roderick Agius told the court that on Saturday at around 6.30am, the police received a call from a bus driver. Upon boarding, the driver realised Mr Haile was drunk and asked him to leave but the accused refused.

Legal aid Abigail Bugeja said that the accused, who works as a dishwasher, was contesting the charges because he did not remember what happened.
