A Libyan refugee was caught red-handed while trying to force his way into a private property in the middle of the night, a court heard yesterday.

Khaled Eddali, 26, was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to attempted break-in.

Sporting a large gun tattooed to his neck with the phrase ‘victory or death’, Mr Eddali was arraigned before Magistrate Audrey Demicoli and also accused of relapsing.

The case happened last Monday between midnight and 2am in Triq l-Arċisqof Caruana in Floriana, when the man was apprehended on the roof of a house.

He did not request bail. Lawyer Patrick Valentino was legal aid while Inspector Jeffrey Scicluna prosecuted.
