Russian Premier League referee Almir Kayumov is recovering in a psychiatric hospital in Moscow after being talked out of a suicide attempt, said FA president and sports minister Vitaly Mutko.

"His condition is satisfactory right now," Mutko told the state news agency RIA. "We don't know the exact reasons that led him to this but we're investigating."

A police spokesman said the 44-year-old Kayumov was about to jump from the window of his apartment on Monday but was talked out of it by emergency workers.

"All we can say right now is he is in a (psychiatric) hospital and we're in constant contact with his doctors who are monitoring his condition," said referees' chief Sergei Zuyev.
