Daniel Sammut has just been informed that his dive in St Paul’s Bay on March 19 broke the Guinness World Record for the longest open saltwater scuba dive (in cold water). Mr Sammut stayed at a depth of 11 metres for 13 hours and 22 minutes in 14°C water at the Sirens dive site. Accompanied by teammates, he cleared the sea floor of rubbish and debris. The previous world record, held by British diver Sean McGahern, was set at St George’s Bay on March 3, 2012.
