Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said that the government is predicting that Malta should be officially out of recession during the second part of next year.

Speaking to journalists at the end of an EU Summit in Brussels Dr Gonzi said that Malta was attentively following all the economic developments on the continent and hoped that the country’s economy would respond positively to the economic stimulus presented in the budget.

Referring to the exercise being carried by the Malta Resources Authority on the revision of water and electricity tariffs, Dr Gonzi hoped the exercise would be concluded.

During the summit Malta decided to contribute 800,000 euros between 2010 and 2012 towards the EU’s climate change contribution.
