Real Madrid are in all-conquering form heading into the weekend’s La Liga fixtures and Cristiano Ronaldo says he and his team-mates are relishing being out in front.

Carlo Ancelotti’s European champions are a point clear at the top of La Liga and have won their last 12 games in all competitions.

They face mid-table Rayo Vallecano today – a side they have beaten nine times in a row – and few expect them to falter, especially on their home ground.

But, while Ronaldo is enjoying the moment, he is waiting until the end of the season before ranking the quality of Real’s squad.

“Everyone talks about being the best squad that the club has had, but that will be known at the end of the season,” the 22-goal striker told reporters.

“The side is doing well, is confident, is excited and things are going well. On a personal level, I feel really good and happy. I’m on a good run and I have to make the most of this good moment of form and continue like this until the end of the season.”

Real have made hay while Barcelona have floundered, with the Catalan side having lost the Clasico and then fallen at home to Celta Vigo.

Midfielder Xavi hopes a midweek win at unbeaten Ajax in the Champions League will have boosted morale, though.

“The team needed this win,” he said.

“They (Ajax) are a tough opponent and it is a hard ground to go to. I am delighted with the three points and they will boost the team’s confidence.”

Luis Enrique’s men will put that theory to the test away to Almeria, who have lost their last three.

Tomorrow, Atletico Madrid head to Real Sociedad who remain without a manager after the departure of Jagoba Arrasate earlier this week.

Former Manchester United boss David Moyes continues to be linked with the position at Real Sociedad.
