Real Madrid face Liverpool in the Champions League final on Saturday evening, in a match which will either hand the Spaniards a third win in a row or fire the British side back into the highest echelons of European football.

Zinedine Zidane will be keen to hand the Blancos their 13th win in the competition – and his third in as many seasons as manager.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will bank on his side’s attacking trio of Roberto Firminho, Sadio Mané and Mohammed Salah keeping their prolific form to help the Reds regain the trophy they last won in 2005.

The match will be played in Kiev, at the stadium in which Spain thrashed Italy 4-0 to win Euro 2012. Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos was among the victors that day.

Zidane must decide which of his attacking stars he will hand a place in the starting line-up, with either Gareth Bale or Karim Benzema expected to start on the bench.

Klopp, meanwhile, must decide whether or not to field midfielder Emre Can, who has been out injured and is rumoured to be quitting the club this summer.

The match will begin at 8.45pm.

What the managers say

Zidane: We have the chance to do something historic and win it three times in a row. You can’t say Liverpool has more hunger than us, it’s just not true. We’re Real Madrid. We always want more and will always give our all to get more.

Klopp: You see Real Madrid and you think ‘wow, they are really strong’. But they have never played us... we are Liverpool. Not only a big club... this club has it in its DNA to really go for the big things. Nobody expected us to be here but we are here because we are Liverpool.
