After having hosted world-class musicians such as the Martinů Quartet, violinist Dejan Bogdanovich, harpist Fabrice Pierre and a host of other stellar performers, the Victoria International Arts Festival is today kick-starting an intense five-day run of rare Baroque music performed in the stunning environs of St George’s Basilica, Victoria, itself a masterpiece of Baroque art and architecture.

The series starts today with a concert of Baroque music from Malta and comes to an end on Tuesday, with a performance of French Baroque Music. Throughout the five days, Baroque music from all over Europe, to include the Low Countries, Scandinavia and Portugal, apart from Germany, Italy, England and Spain, will be performed.

Expert musicians in the field will be flying out to Malta from England, France, Italy and Norway to perform on period instruments in what promises to be one of the highlights of this year’s 16th edition of the festival.

Entrance to all concerts is free. Concerts start at 8pm.
