A 26-year-old Syrian man has been charged in court with raping a teenage girl and holding her against her will.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli heard Jumaa Mohammad plead not guilty to raping the girl, who is under 16, indecent assaulting her, having sex with a minor and holding her against her will on and before April 17.

He was also charged with allowing the child to drive his car and offending public morals.

He was remanded in police custody.

Police Inspector Joseph Busuttil prosecuted.
