A ramp on the Gozo Channel ferry Malita jammed again this morning, delaying sailing from Mgarr. Gozo Channel was unusually busy this morning because of the long weekend.

Cars and trucks were seen reversing into the ferry after one of its ramps jammed at Mgarr before the 9.45 a.m. crossing. The ferry then turned around when it left the harbour, so that the vehicles could be driven off regularly at Cirkewwa.

The ferry suffered a similar problem on Saturday and hundreds of people had a long wait at Ċirkewwa. The company had apologised for the delays.

Just last week the ferry Gaudos was returned to service after it too was struck by a ramp problem, leaving the company with just one servicable ferry.

The other ferry, Ta' Pinu is at the dockyard having a hoistable lift installed to double the number of cars it  can carry.
