Last Monday's rains may have washed away some of the turtle eggs in Gnejna bay. Water flowing down the valley into the sandy beach created a furrow right where the eggs were located.

The eggs had been due to hatch 60 days after being laid on June 20, but nothing happened. The possibility exists that some eggs were actually pushed deeper into the sand by the rainwater, but the possibility of hatching is now remote, people on the site said.
