A rail firm in Shropshire has claimed to be the first to offer a flat first class return, regardless of the day or time of travel.

Wrexham & Shropshire, who have staff based in Shrewsbury, said the new £120 ticket is available from Wednesday from anywhere along the route between Wrexham in North Wales and London.

Marketing director Thomas Ableman said: "Last year we got rid of confusing ticket types in favour of a simple flat fare structure because passengers told us they were fed up of the endless fare options at the ticket desk.

"Now we've gone one step further by offering one fare for passengers wishing to travel first class to London."

The company, launched in 2008, introduced a flat fare structure last year, meaning passengers can buy the same priced tickets any time, any day.
