I fully agree with your TV and radio columnist Tanja Cilia who recently lavished praise on Gordon Caruana for his very interesting programme currently aired on PBS radio.

For the past seven years, as manager of Hompesch Radio, Mr Caruana has been doing sterling work, not only for the Zabbar community but also for most of the south of Malta, and the popularity the station enjoys is very well deserved.

Unlike most of local radio stations, Hompesch Radio caters for all tastes: all kinds of music, from pop to classical and operatic, literature, topical discussions, the much followed reading of novels, sport, leisure, games and so on. Indeed, it is the only radio station that follows so closely the Rediffusion programmes of bygone days.

I should know because, like thousands of others, I still feel a certain nostalgia for the time when Rediffusion was not only a source of culture and learning but, together with the cinema, almost the only means of good and honest entertainment.

Well done, Gordon, and keep up the good work.
