A monument is to be erected in Rabat in memory of well-known sculptor Anton Agius.

Sandro Craus, chairman of an organising committee, said the bronze monument would be produced by the Massimo del Chairo foundry of Pietrasanta, Italy, with which Mr Agius used to work.

The monument has been designed by Joseph Scerri, one of the students of Anton Agius.

Mr Craus said the committee was launching a fund-raising campaign and was looking for sponsors.

He praised Mr Agius for his generosity to the nation and said he was an inspiration for other artists.
