The Labour spokesman on MEPA said today that the Authority should investigate the building of a private road within the buffer zone of the Lija fireworks factory.
Roderick Galdes queried how the development was being allowed when this went against the local plan for the central part of Malta.
He said the building of this road was not justified since the local plan, in 2006, had even excluded a planned road in the same area because of the danger posed by the short distance from the fireworks factory.
Mr Galdes said MEPA should consult the residents, local councils and the fireworks enthusiasts about the proposed development.
