Gzira United fumbled a two-goal first-half lead as Qormi turned defeat into victory with an impressive second-half display, scoring three goals in the process.

For the Maroons, this was their fourth defeat from as many matches.

Gzira forged ahead in the 23rd minute when Ian Buhagiar headed home an Etienne Cini cross. On the half hour an error by Qormi's goalkeeper Dominic Cassar led to Gzira's second scored through a long-range effort by defender Malcolm Sultana.

Just before the interval Qormi were unlucky when a shot by Clyde Grech hit the upright.

Qormi were a rejuvenated side after the break and managed to reduced the arrears after just four minutes. Mark Tabone headed in a cross by Grech. Qormi maintained the pressure and drew level in the 67th minute through an excellent shot by Bonnici. Substitute Chris Ellul hit the winner for Qormi in the 72nd minute after a fine solo run.

Vittoriosa 3
Dingli 2

Vittoriosa Stars obtained their second win of the season and they are now occupying third place in the standings, just two points behind leaders San Gwann and Tarxien Rainbows. Dingli's poor run continued as they suffered their third consecutive defeat.

Vittoriosa were the better team during the first period and in the 13th minute they took the lead through Robert Adami. In the 38th minute Adami doubled the Cottonera side's lead following good work by Lucien Scerri.

Dingli reduced the arrears in the 61st minute through substitute Lawrence Vella after Vittoriosa defender Justin Camilleri had cleared from over the line a Sapiano shot. However, eight minutes later, Scerri restored Vittoriosa's two-goal lead.

In the 76th minute Vittoriosa's Clint Cope was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Sapiano pulled one back for Dingli in the 83rd minute but three minutes from time Dingli's Patrick Mangion was dismissed for a second yellow-card.

Dingli almost saved a point in injury-time but James Galea's shot was cleared in time by Kevin Ciantar.

Fgura 0

This was a drab match which was dominated by the respective defences. Fgura, however, could consider themselves unlucky as they hit the woodwork on two occasions. They maintained their unbeaten record though and are still to concede a goal after three matches.

Kirkop assumed the initiative and in the 26th minute Fgura goalkeeper Clayton Mifsud brought off a difficult save to stop Josef Mansueto's strong shot.

Fgura were unlucky in the 37th minute when Dione Agius saw his effort coming off the upright.

Fgura were the better team during the second half and two minutes from time they almost snatched all points when Jonathan Cachia's shot again hit the Kirkop woodwork.

Sta Venera 2

Gudja United registered their second victory from three matches after having the better of Sta Venera Lightnings. For the Saints this was their third consecutive defeat to stay rock bottom of the table with Pembroke, Gharghur and Ta' Xbiex.

Gudja broke the deadlock in the 15th minute through an opportunistic goal scored by Chris Grech.

On 51 minutes Ian Camilleri headed in Gudja's second from a Louis Falzon free-kick and four minutes later Charlo Debattista made it 3-0.

In the 66th minute Sta Venera were awarded a penalty for a foul on Mark Grech and substitute Andrew Hili reduced the arrears from the spot.

But in the 85th minute a mistake by Lightnings' keeper Zammit led to Gudja's fourth goal scored by James Spiteri from a corner kick.

Two minutes into injury-time Sta Venera scored their second goal of the match through Joe Chetcuti.
