As early as the first minute, Qormi were awarded a penalty corner and White Hart keeper, Ramon Chircop, had to be alert to keep his goal intact with a diving save.
Qormi spent the greater part of this league clash at Corradino pounding White Hart’s rearguard but were denied by a well-organised tactical plan, coupled with an outstanding goalkeeping display by Chircop.
In fact, by half-time, Qormi had won nine penalty corners but were still unable to break the deadlock.
The second half continued on the same pattern with the pace now becoming more frantic.
White Hart gained in confidence as the game wore on as Qormi continued with their barrage on the White Hart fort.
On 51 minutes White Hart were awarded their first penalty corner and Qormi custodian Shamison Mifsud dived to his right to push away a close-range shot that seemed destined to reach the net.
Qormi finally broke the stalemate on 65 minutes when Juan Sarcia hit a bullet home as a result of yet another penalty corner.
The game drew to a close with Qormi preserving their slender lead to consolidate their position at the top of the table at the end of the first round of the HAM National Championship.
