A man wanted by the police for questioning in connection with the murder of his wife turned himself in today.

Eleanor Mangion Walker was found dead in a warehouse in Qormi late on Sunday after a police search sparked by a tip-off.

The police had since been seeking her husband, Andrew Mangion, who they regraded as the prime suspect.

Mr Mangion and his wife had been going through separation proceedings.

The 33-year-old mother died after being struck in the head with a blunt object.

Police sources said that Mrs Mangion did not appear to have been killed in the warehouse. Suspicion was raised when Mr Mangion reportedly sought somebody else’s help for access to the warehouse.

Police are still baffled what led to the murder since the victim had been very open about her relationship with another man.

The couple had married in 2009, but their relationship hit the rocks. However, they were still living under the same roof, police sources said.

The suspect, who works as a handyman, has no criminal record.

Ms Mangion Walker was a part-time beautician and make-up artist from Swieqi who loved art, played the piano and enjoyed life, according to her partner. She was last seen on Saturday morning.
