Stephen Caruana, 28, of Qormi, who stands charged with the December 10 murder of Neville Baldacchino in Qormi, was granted bail this morning against a deposit of €18,612 and a personal guarantee of €34,897.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman, who is presiding over the compilation of evidence, also ruled that evidence can henceforth proceed in open court since sensitive witnesses have now been heard.

She had previously ordered that evidence be heard behind closed doors.

Mr Baldacchino was shot dead on the roof of Mr Caruana's residence.
