Qormi stormed into the semi-finals of the FA Trophy after crushing Division Two side Sirens 7-0 at the Hibs Stadium.

Qormi found the breakthrough on 15 minutes when Duncan Pisani’s throughball released Alfred Effiong who beat the Sirens offside trap and slid the ball past Sirens goalkeeper Gianni Spiteri.

The St Paul’s Bay side protested vehemently with the assistant referee as they felt that the Nigerian striker was in an offside position but the referee was unmoved and booked George Falzon for persistent protests.

Qormi doubled their lead on 23 minuts when Nilsson dispossessed Falzon in midfield and he quickly passed the ball to Chetcuti who advanced before returning the ball to the Swedish forward who cooly slotted the ball past Spiteri.

Sirens were rattled and Qormi piled more misery on the Division Two outfit on the half hour when they were awarded a central free-kick from which Marcelinho curled the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

The tie was all but settled on 38 minutes when from a corner action, Marcelinho’s delivery was met by Zoran Levnaic who sent a powerful header into the net.

Four goals to the good Miller handed Gustavo Villalobos his debut when he came on for  Nilsson at the start of the second half.

The American attacking midfielder took little time to make an impact as on 52 minutes Pisani showed great skill to wrongfoot Adam Debattista before teeing up Villalobos who stabbed the ball into the net.

Qormi sealed their progress with a well-worked sixth goal on 83 minutes.

Villalobos picked Effiong who did well to move past his marker before sending a low cross across the face of goal where Pisani immediately teed up Marcelinho who blasted the ball into the roof of the net.

Emerson Vella, who had earlier replaced Steve Agius, completed the rout on 87 minutes when he burst past two opponents before sending a curling cross into the bottom corner of the net.

The woodwork denied Qormi from netting an eight goal when Spiteri cleared the ball into the path of Villalobos whose first-time volley came off the bar.
