Qormi and Floriana cancelled each other in a goalless draw that all but ends their hopes of pushing for a Championship Pool berth this season.

Qormi were the better side for much of the match and in fact Jesmond Zerafa created the best scoring opportunities throughout.

Qormi winger Leighton Grech turned out to be a handful for the Floriana defence and in fact on 23 minutes he did well to force his way on the right only to see his shot blocked by Warner.

Three minutes from the break, Qormi were denied by the woodwork when they were awarded a central free-kick and Stephen Wellman’s curling drive came off the crossbar. After the break, Qormi kept up the upper hand with Alfred Effiong and Clyde Camoin both handed their debuts as the Yellows pushed for a breakthrough.

Their best chance came 12 minutes from time when from a Camoin corner-kick, Bello-Osagie anticipated his marker but his downward header was blocked by Floriana goalkeeper Tony Warner.

Qormi striker Aboubakar Bello-Osagie was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
