Residents of Qawra have protested over the disruption caused by the LoiveSexy party held over the weekend as a seaside club.

St Paul's Bay Council also protested yesterday and said it would act to prevent a repetition.

In a statement, the Safeguarding St Pauls Bay residents' association said it was disgusted by the irresponsible behaviour of those who attended this event.

"Families and foreigners who normally come for the Sunday relaxation walk and happened to be present, witnessed youths urinating in people’s gardens and using foul language throughout, pavements taken over by queues of inebriated youths and take-away food stalls and CID Police searching youths for drugs in full view of everyone including children and visitors alike," it said.

"There was complete disregard to law and order too.  Fist fights ensued when drivers going down Triq il-Kurazza against the one way direction came face to face with cars going in the right direction but refused to give way.  Wardens were nowhere in sight with the result that everyone was left  to break every parking law in the book.

"Residents woke up to one big mess along the Qawra/Bugibba promenade and surrounding areas.  Gardens were littered with bottles and beer cans and in many cases smelling of urine.  One of the light fittings has been damaged, skips strewn on the promenade’s pavement and bins overflowing with rubbish."

The association said residents were concerned about how and why permits were issued in the first place for this kind of event.

"Even more worrying is the fact that the party was not supervised to ensure that the organizers honour the conditions of their permits and their patrons do not misbehave and cause nuisance in the neighbourhood"

The association called on the police and the Local Council to investigate what happened so that such unruly events will not be repeated.  It also called upon the Local Council to demand that the organizers clean up the area of the mess that was left behind, at their expense.
